For my first Mandurah winter mini photoshoot of the day, I had a gorgeous little trio meet me at the park for a 20 minute session. Unfortunately, my self-esteem took a beating. This little boy rocked up to the session and immediately hated me. I’m not being dramatic - he actually started to cry when I got too close. Now, a less experienced photographer may have panicked or called it quits or called TIME as soon as we hit 20 minutes. But I refuse to be defeated. I do as much as I possibly can to get beautiful photos for my clients. As a mum, I KNOW how important it is and I treat my clients the way I want to be treated! I went a bit overtime, I pulled out every trick I could and even used his disdain towards me to my advantage - I tried to get close and he would stamp his feet to get rid of me, “knocking” me back a few steps, which got him to cheer up. Kids don’t have to be “perfect” for the session - your photographer should be able to work through most circumstances to give you the best experience possible.

Are he and I best buddies now? Not even close - HAHA! I think he was very relieved when we were done. BUT, did I create a beautiful gallery for his parents regardless? Absolutely. Because after all, that’s what I was hired to do <3
