When I arrived at this family’s home for their Mandurah newborn session, I started hauling in all of my gear (remember, I bring the studio to you!) I didn’t even notice the tiny little bub in the living room wrapped up in Mum’s fur dressing gown! What a BUNDLE of cuteness! I’m sure that’s her favourite spot (because it smells like Mum, duh :)) She was out cold so I started with some solo shots of her while the rest of the family finished getting ready. I’m so glad I got some sleeping shots in because she had no interest in snoozing for the rest of the session! After a quick feed, we moved onto family shots, grandparent shots and parent shots. I wrapped her up for some prop photos where she was giving me the MOST ADORABLE facial expressions! She was incredibly alert and chill for her very first photoshoot - the perfect little model :) See the next post for Part Two of this session!

Can I just remind everyone, even if it’s not with me, please book a newborn photoshoot. I don’t see how anyone could possibly regret it. I didn’t get newborn photos done for my first son (thinking that I could do them myself..HA!) I wish I could go back in time. That is something I will always look back on and think, if only I knew better. Then with my second son, we learned our lesson and booked a session but it was at the photographer’s studio. The photos were nice enough (except the family and sibling shots - see below explanation), but it meant we had to pack everyone up and get there on time (SO stressful), my baby HATED car rides (oh, the shrieking!!!), my toddler was acting very awkward as he was uncomfortable in new surroundings (cue awkward looking family and sibling photos), and it would have been so much easier to just have someone come to us and take photos of us in our own home, where our memories lay, where our lives happen. I LOVE being able to offer in-home newborn sessions because we get a mix of your home setting plus studio setups, so it’s really the best of both worlds. Every session feels different and unique, because it is! <3
