Part two! When booking in with me, my client asked if we could take some photos at the beach, because they just LOVE it there. I do too, so of course I was more than happy to do this for them! We had scheduled the in-home portion in the afternoon (typically I do them in the mornings) but the lighting at the beach would have been too harsh, so we started in the afternoon and headed to the beach for golden hour <3 I LOVE me some Mandurah beach sunset photoshoots!! I think more than a few times, I said "Wait, one more photo!" :D Bub was COMPLETELY content at the beach, and I think it’s already her happy place too <3 Mum said her white noise was ocean waves, and you really can’t beat the real thing lulling you to sleep! At the very end of the session, I found out that Dad didn’t really like getting his photo taken. My jaw dropped at this news, because I had just spent a few hours with them and had no idea - he was a natural! I try to make everyone feel really comfortable with me and in front of my lens, so hopefully it wasn’t too painful for him ;P

Can I just remind everyone, even if it’s not with me, please book a newborn photoshoot. I don’t see how anyone could possibly regret it. I didn’t get newborn photos done for my first son (thinking that I could do them myself..HA!) I wish I could go back in time. That is something I will always look back on and think, if only I knew better. Then with my second son, we learned our lesson and booked a session but it was at the photographer’s studio. The photos were nice enough (except the family and sibling shots - see below explanation), but it meant we had to pack everyone up and get there on time (SO stressful), my baby HATED car rides (oh, the shrieking!!!), my toddler was acting very awkward as he was uncomfortable in new surroundings (cue awkward looking family and sibling photos), and it would have been so much easier to just have someone come to us and take photos of us in our own home, where our memories lay, where our lives happen. I LOVE being able to offer in-home newborn sessions because we get a mix of your home setting plus studio setups, so it’s really the best of both worlds. Every session feels different and unique, because it is! <3
