This special session was for the winner of my free newborn photoshoot giveaway for Mother’s Day. The lucky family were so beautiful and I was so excited to do a newborn session again - as the last one was in 2020 before I needed to take a break for my family! I no longer have my in-home studio so the challenges of an in-home session were a bit intimidating but nothing that I couldn’t overcome. Mum was slightly concerned initially as she said her home was tiny. Fortunately, I do not need a lot of space to set-up. Mum clearly understood my emailed instructions and had the house ready exactly as I had asked: declutter the main room where I would shoot, open up the blinds and keep the house comfortably warm.
I always get family, parent and sibling shots with every newborn session as I feel it’s so important to capture that connection. Mum and Dad got ready while I was taking a few photos of baby on her own (Mandurah newborn in-home sessions for the win!) Then we continued with parent and family shots. Baby girl was lucky enough to have her grandparents there from all over the world, so we were sure to get photos with them too <3 Bub was awake for most of the session as she didn’t want to miss out on her first photoshoot - she gave me some excellent eye contact at just two weeks old! She finally went to sleep for a few minutes at the end, before she let me know she had had enough ;)
Can I just remind everyone, even if it’s not with me, please book a Mandurah newborn photoshoot. I don’t see how anyone could possibly regret it. I didn’t get newborn photos done for my first son (thinking that I could do them myself..HA!) I wish I could go back in time. That is something I will always look back on and think, if only I knew better. Then with my second son, we learned our lesson and booked a session but it was at the photographer’s studio. Don't get me wrong...the photos were nice enough (except the family and sibling shots - see below explanation), but it meant we had to pack everyone up and get there on time (SO stressful), my baby HATED car rides (oh, the shrieking!!!), my toddler was acting very awkward as he was uncomfortable in new surroundings (cue awkward looking family and sibling photos), and it would have been so much easier to just have someone come to us and take photos of us in our own home, where our memories lay, where our lives happen.
Make sure you capture these special moments with memories that will last a lifetime! Andrea Joy Photography is your go-to Mandurah photographer and is available for family, maternity, newborn, baby, couple and engagement photos at very affordable prices. You can send me a Facebook message or email me at andreajoyphoto@gmail.com to book in your session.
