What a fun session this was! I was feeling a bit nervous as this was my first Mandurah newborn session with an older sibling since I paused in 2020. I felt a bit unsure as to how things would go, how chaotic it would be, and would the sibling immediately hate me?! Luckily for me, he was such a sweetheart and we hit it off instantly...PHEW! I took some solo shots of just him (plus his Toy Story toys AND my piggy which he adored) while Mum was feeding Bub, then we started off with family photos. Once the toddler got bored (after 30 seconds ;P), we switched to parent and baby photos. Little man was awake for these photos, so next I decided to put him in the Moses basket where he graced me with his adorable gummy smile and super-sweet eye contact. He was just under 2 months old, so definitely more alert and expressive - it’s such a gorgeous age. He “told” me his cute little baby stories and it melted my heart - I was instantly transported back to when my boys were that age and they just had so much to say <3

We did another prop set-up, then onto the posing bed where he was yawning quite a bit, so I wrapped him ready for the next pose and rocked him to sleep. It took a little while which is why I like to allow 2-3 hours for newborn sessions - this is plenty of time for feeding and cuddling. Once he was out, we finished up on the posing bed and then we decided to bring in their dog for one last family photo. Cue the chaos - LOL! We got one magical family photo and guess who had the biggest grin? The pup! How special to have been able to include their fur-baby :) I mean, how many studios can you bring your pets to? Mandurah in-home newborn sessions for the win! ;D

Can I just remind everyone, even if it’s not with me, please book a newborn photoshoot. I don’t see how anyone could possibly regret it. I didn’t get newborn photos done for my first son (thinking that I could do them myself..HA!) I wish I could go back in time. That is something I will always look back on and think, if only I knew better. Then with my second son, we learned our lesson and booked a session but it was at the photographer’s studio. The photos were nice enough (except the family and sibling shots - see below explanation), but it meant we had to pack everyone up and get there on time (SO stressful), my baby HATED car rides (oh, the shrieking!!!), my toddler was acting very awkward as he was uncomfortable in new surroundings (cue awkward looking family and sibling photos), and it would have been so much easier to just have someone come to us and take photos of us in our own home, where our memories lay, where our lives happen. I LOVE being able to offer in-home newborn sessions because we get a mix of your home setting plus studio setups, so it’s really the best of both worlds. Every session feels different and unique, because it is! <3
